Chesterfield Royal Hospital is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Calow, a mile outside the centre of Chesterfield. The hospital is the town’s largest employer with a workforce in excess of 3,500 staff and works to an annual budget of £190 million, and is rated Good in its last CQC report

Due to restructuring of the Occupational Therapy workforce, an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist Technical Instructor (TI) to join the admissions avoidance and frailty team.

You will be working under the guidance of an established and supportive team of qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other therapy support staff within the admission avoidance and frailty team.

You will be assessing/treating patients in a range of daily activities to improve functional independence in preparation for their discharge from hospital.

Patient management will include responsibility of the delivery of care including liaison with patients, family members, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.

We are seeking individuals who possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate flexibility and initiative and are able to prioritise their workload in a busy environment.  The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for team working.

Flexibility to help cover medical & surgical wards may be required, in line with service needs.

We are seeking applicants who have had experience working in a therapy environment, and have an understanding of the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of patients experiencing an acute admission.

Basic IT skills are required, as the service operates with electronic patient records.

There is a commitment to support 7 day services in the medical division, so flexibility to work weekends on a rota system may be required.
