Apprentice – 3 posts

12 month apprenticeship – Level 2 Clinical Healthcare Support

Occupational Therapy Department

An exciting opportunity has arisen, for 3 apprentices to join the Occupational Therapy (OT) Team based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Occupational therapists help people to carry out everyday activities, enabling them to remain as independent as possible and facilitate discharge safely from hospital. They help people find ways to continue with activities that are important to them. This might involve learning new ways to do things, or making changes to their environment to make things easier.

We are now looking for 3 apprentices to join our supportive OT team.  These are fantastic opportunities to gain experience and develop skills within a therapy role and to learn about our hospital.  You will work as part of the OT team supporting people who have difficulties carrying out daily activities because of surgery, disability, illness, trauma, ageing and a range of long term conditions.   Following training, you will be working with patients who may have difficulties washing and dressing themselves, difficulties making themselves a drink or getting on and off furniture, for example, the toilet or bed.

What’s most important to us is that you display the care and compassion for our patients that we put at the centre of all we do and have a genuine desire to encourage people to maximise their independence.   We are really looking forward to welcoming apprentices into our team and are looking for you to be equally keen and enthusiastic to develop yourself and learn new skills.

To succeed in this role, you will need, good written and verbal communication skills, to be flexible and to be able to work on your own initiative.  If you have previous experience of working with people and an awareness of the effects of illness and disability on the individual and carer, perhaps through voluntary work or in your own family, that would be an advantage.   If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
