Chesterfield Royal Hospital is looking for a Nurse Endoscopist to join our existing team to support our Diagnostic services and Bowel Screening programme. The successful applicant will be trained to perform independent colonoscopy and polypectomy, assist with all audits regarding JAG standards, eventually leading to becoming a competent trainer.

We are a busy, expanding unit which undertakes diagnostic OGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy as well as a wide range of therapeutic endoscopy including polypectomy, EMR, dilatation of oesophageal, pyloric and colonic strictures, placement of upper and lower GI. Stents, PEG’s, PEJ’s and all forms of feeding tubes, management of acute GI bleeds as well as ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Bowel scope and bowel  cancer screening services.  We have an Endoscopy unit that is just over 12 months old which includes 4 treatment rooms equipped with Olympus 290 systems with all rooms also provided with scope guides and CO2 insufflation availability, prep rooms, recovery areas and admission and discharge areas.

Working collaboratively with all members of the MDT the post holder will take an active role in ensuring the service delivers the highest standards of clinical care. This will include actively supporting the implementation of new nationally agreed directives, targets and develop the service in line with JAG and BSG recommendations.

You will be expected to demonstrate highly specialist and advanced clinical knowledge, skills and decision making, working autonomously to manage the whole episode of care but as a key member of the Endoscopy service multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will report to the Lead Nurse for endoscopy whilst working alongside the Lead SSP and Department Matron
